Day 3 was a pretty long day for me. I have to be at the Suntec Convention Hall by 7 am. It was such a hot day and luckily there were bottles of mineral water being distributed all day long. So I was there at the bus bay from morning till afternoon, took attendance, mingled with the delegates while sharing information on Singapore's tourist attraction and made sure that they boarded the correct bus etc. I had plenty of opportunities to network with the delegates on day 3. I spoken to librarians from Iceland, shared photos with a gentleman from Denmark (who also shared videos of his travel experiences in S.E. Asia), phototaking with delegates from Hawaii, talked about library experiences with librarians from Australia, Macau, Hong Kong and (not sure how I managed it but...) communicated with librarians from Kazakhstan and Krysakstan - we used a lot of sign gestures, And I got to go to the Library Supply Centre... You could enjoy the photos below.... It was an exciting day.

I didn't managed to talk many pictures as I am on duty at the SI headset counter (I am a very good volunteer, heehee). I met many delegates from so many nations. They were really nice. Most of them knows how to use the headset so I was really lucky.
Well, this is an update of what is going on during the volunteer briefing I attended last week.
Though I had missed the first session that Saturday due to the funeral, I've managed to catch up with the important stuff last Thursday. I had collected my gears, polo-tee and familiarized myself to the place. I think I am all set for my 3 days of volunteering of 79th IFLA WLIC. There will be 3,321 delegates from 120 countries - most of them are from Singapore, the US and Australia. They will be attending and participating in the International Summit of the Book, special meetings with the Directors of National Libraries, pre-conferences and satellite meetings as well as public talks (from 17 - 23 August 2013). Mui Sin, Yati, Joana and me would be among the 271 volunteers to assist the delegates and participants around. If you are interested to look at the photos and the happenings, follow the IFLA WLIC 2013 Singapore Facebook or@ifla2013 and @wlic2013 via Twitter. |
