I was Google-ing for more inspiration when I stumbled upon this webby. She is so humorous and it is evident through her blogs. There is one thing that intrigued me; her posters/displays and taglines. They were unique, vibrant and teen oriented.
Just right for our library. *adding her to my favourite list of bloggers* World Book Day is out and Book Week is in. That is the main display for March.
The Boss wanted our team to focus on Book Week which is happening end of February 2013. It is a school thing and only happens every 2 years. The last time we did it was in 2011 and the students had to dress up in their favourite book characters. It was quite a memorable event. There was one who dressed up as Mario and there were a few Harry Potters. This year, the school is focusing on Mystery/Crime. The Boss wanted us to make used of the technology e.g. QR codes - QR-acking Codes. So here I decided to write a story. This is my first written story that I have been wanting to write. (I have always wanted to write a picture book. So here it is, but unlike a picture book - this requires interaction with students.) I would like to thank The Boss who gave me this opportunity. So here it is. QR-acking Codes, Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty? We had a bit of excitement in the Library today. There were sightings of a creature in the ceiling. Students had been hearing chirping and scratching on the ceiling boards. Some saw pink feet sticking out the air-con vents. Others saw orange. So we decided to conclude that there might be a mouse/rat and a bird chasing about one another (Joana added that there might be a squirrel too). The Maintenance Dept had been notified and a few men came down to investigate. They opened up a few of the ceiling board which caused some excitement to the students (and staff too). It is not everyday that you'll get to see something like this. And there, the bird (local mynah) flew out frantically, crashed into the glass wall and was 'thrown into a state of shock'. A photo was taken before we released the lost mynah. I'm in the midst of building an other website for Jacqui's upcoming lesson for Year 8 - CONFLICT. It is nothing new as it is the same as the Inhospitable Places. Some books are overlapping so it is not that difficult but it is time-consuming. Nonetheless, I learned about the writing-styles of certain authors too e.g. Joan Lingard, Elizabeth Laird, Deborah Ellis, Michael Morpurgo, Jame Riordan and etc.
But there was one book that captured me, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. Actually it was the movie trailer that interest me. So I'm linking the clip for you to view. We have the DVD if you are interested to watch. |
