Wow, amazing work. So much to do in order to fulfill the readers' reading needs.

It has been a long time since... Today was the first time in weeks since I last created a libguide for the library (Science Fiction). The topic for the month was the Arts Festival which would be held in our school from 20 - 23 February. I was given the opportunity to create a welcome page for the guide. And tada... created a simple straight to the point welcome note. Well, there is no secret on how to create one. I have been following my 'own' (ahem) work principle which I always use for all my displays... A clean look, clutter free, make it simple and straight to the point. If you find it messy and confusing -> REVIEW IT! Though I could not say the same for the state of my work desk. It's almost embarrassing to actually admit that it is mine. Nonetheless, this welcome page has been reviewed 3 times before its final look. I might be putting some more stuff on along the way. Can't wait for the next topic... Don't you want to go and sit on one of the chairs? This space is so inviting and has a lovely atmosphere for learning. Any kid (or even an adult) would be so enticed to just be in the room. I have many praises for this room and I know you would too. Great sense of colours, layout and organisation which makes that space so in.... harmony. If I have my own small library to manage (in the distant future), I would totally borrow some of the design ideas from this room. I was lucky to stumble onto this site while I was looking for more ideas. I was working on how to beautify my games corner. It looks a little depressing now. Nonetheless, it is still work in progress. Oh well, just looking at this room makes me so excited and happy this morning. Inspiredinstyle.com - you've made it to my list of favourites (I am stalking you! - haha) Maybe it was just me with the hearing problem (or reading problem). Have you ever heard of pecha kucha? It was the first for me and I first heard it as 'pecah pecah' ('break into pieces' in Bahasa). Pecha kucha is a 'get straight to the point' presentation. - well, you could Google for its meaning at your own time.
Last week, my colleagues and I had a go at this new 'toy'. It was the first for most of us, putting the slides together and embedding our lovely voices to the slides. The challenge was to get your point across with just 10 slides within 100 seconds (10 slides x 10 seconds/slide = 100 seconds). - which was about less than 2 minutes. It was a great challenge for me. I am fond of telling 'grandmother's stories' but in pecha kucha, I have to cut straight to the chase. And it was quite fun. I've learnt some new stuff and had the opportunity to use the other functions in MS Powerpoint (which I rarely used). I also had a new discovery about myself *blushing* - for me to take note and for you, not to find out. |
