I was looking for resources for the upcoming International Women's Day when I stumbled upon this vid in FB. It is by Incredible India. Happy watching!

Having learned my mistake last year, I had all my February displays up early this month! See the pictures below. I still need a good camera to capture all our hardwork, though. These photos did not do any justice. Once again, I would like to thank the following people & programs (not according to sequence or importance): 1) Jacqui - for her approvals for all the boards without any questions or comment 2) Susan - for her catchy phrases and the colour palatte for Valentine's Day 3) Alex Bosch - for allowing to display one of his curriculum lessons, 'Musica Cubana' - very exciting 4) Flickr.com - for all the photos; of couse I cited every single one of the photos used 5) Adobe Fireworks - for making it possible; by turning small images big and pixels-free 6) Blockposters - for blowing up all the photos 7) My handy stationary, the scissors, glue, pen-knife, bluetag, colour printer - for being stress-free 8) Art department - for all the coloured papers 9) My Interactive Team - for their kind understanding and helpout during various stages. Chinese New Year - It is the year of the snake. I tried to google a suitable picture of it. Many of the pictures are either too scary or kiddy looking. And they did not complement my green background. After many tries over the new year holidays, I saw one idea. I adapted and recreated based on that idea (I could not remember where I saw that idea). Another idea was that to cut it out - this idea I got from a cut-out sticker I got from the Orchid Catering Service last year.
Valentine's Day - 'Do Something Special' is the theme for this year's V-Day. So I make it simple. Yes, I cheated by displaying all the love stories. But I love the cover pages; so pinkish and pretty! And Jacqui bought all the cut-out heart shapes. It will be a pity not to use them. And I like the colour palatte for the wordings and the phrases contributed by Susan. But sorry, no cupids this year. Maybe next year! Check out the QR code. It is embeded with a heart. Books are the new Black - This is a very simple display of showing off books with black covers. Musica Cubana - A curriculum display for the Spanish department. It is very exciting as we will be displaying the lyrics/songs by Gloria Estefan, The Buena Vista Social Club, Celia Cruz and Compay Segundo in Spanish. Student's work based on these artists' songs will be displayed in the coming weeks. Scoring "A"s - A simple display of books to help them to study better. After tearing down 4 displays during the Xmas/New Year holidays, I have many empty boards. Not a great start for the year, though. Fortunately, our team had came up with a list of potential themes and topic for displays. As the exams are around the corner, I took this opportunity to make this display [see left]. The following themes will be up for January & February 2013. I could drag them till March 2013 if there is no interesting themes to display (the one in red are new): - Games@Lunch for Y7 (permanent display) - Meet Mack & his iPad (permanent display) - What are we reading? Carnegie Book Award Winners (permanent display) - Charles Dickens Quiz (permanent display) - Scoring 'A's - FESTIVAL: Happy Chinese New Year 2013 - Books are the new black Photos will be uploaded soon! Below are some of the pictures that I've managed to take before tearing them down during the New Year holidays. Our team was so busy with the website UAT and populating of content that left very little time to do anything else. Hence before we all went for our holidays, we managed to squeeze something up. It is all my fault for not preparing way in advance or did I spend too much time on the 3-D Santa and his sleigh??? We solely promised to do better Christmas displays for 2013. Graffiti art for Christmas?! Just a thought! |
